Oreos aren't the healthiest thing in the world-- why eat them often anyway?

More concerning is something I read the other day, that palm oil is used in animal feed. Personally it would be great to avoid meat that were fed with palm oil products.

There is also another reason that our family doesn't buy Oreos. They were made in the USA and Nabisco moved their production to Mexico several years ago and good union USA jobs were lost. I always check Nabisco products to see where they are made. Ritz crackers are also made in Mexico, so we do not purchase them either. There are other cookies just like Oreos and Ritz crackers that are made in the USA.

I love Oreo's no matter where they are made as long as the quality is the same. Or are you protesting Palm oil?

Both. We believe in eating healthy and protecting our good union jobs in the USA. As a previous employee and from a union family, we appreciate how valuable a union job can be especially when one retires. My husband and I are both retired and are thankful for our union retirement funds. It would be very difficult to live on social security with the prices of everything today. There are cookies available that are just like Oreo's at Kroger stores called Kaleidos's that are made in the USA. Purchasing items made in the USA is very important to us. More so than a particular brand.

Yes, you should stop buying Oreos. They are not food. No redeeming value in any way, shape or form.

Glad to see you making the point that ethical consumerism can be really hard. I was subscribed to Ethical Consumer magazine for a while in the 90s and I remember them giving a clear message - praise yourself for the positive choices you make, but don't blame yourself for the ones you don't make! If we really didn't want to cause any any harm to the environment or society there would be very, very few things left that we could buy. (And that's even if we had the time to track down ethical options and the money to afford them.)

If palm oil in Oreos is bad for your health and destroying the rain forest to get it is bad for the environment, then yes, you should boycott Oreos. Why should you risk both your physical health and your moral health knowing that by stopping your consumption of palm oil you're helping the environment that you're a part of? We've got to stop giving money to these huge corporations who prey on our health and our environment's health. We don't owe the billionaires nothing! Stop aiding the billionaires destroying our environment! Boycott Oreos!

I stopped buying them a long time ago. They stopped tasting like cookies and started tasting like chemicals

Stopped years ago for completely unrelated reasons, but now I have more reasons to stay away from them.
